Why a Winter Holiday in Alta Badia is a True Family Experience

It’s always worth holidaying in South Tyrol, particularly if it’s in the legendary world that is the Dolomites. In Alta Badia, more specifically, where snowy mountain slopes and stunning summits have the ‘wow factor’. Where local Ladin hospitality warms your soul. Where children can easily learn how to ski. Where there’s something for everyone. In short… where excitement in the snow is guaranteed!

Skiing. Tobogganing. Snowboarding. Hiking. As the possibilities here in Alta Badia are endless, why not put together a list of ‘must dos’ before you arrive? This way, you’ll not forget anything and you can take full advantage of your family’s winter holiday from morning to evening.

1. The Movimënt Winterparks

If winter for you means fun and games in the snow, you can’t go wrong at the Movimënt Parks! Pistes for freestyling experts and skiing novices alike. Obstacles and ski jumps. Ski rails and obstacle courses. A skiing paradise to suit all tastes, ages and ability levels.

For budding ski experts: the Movie-Slalom in Col Alto. There are two cameras installed here that record your descent. You can watch the video in the Col Alto valley station and, if you like, download it from the internet.

For very young skiers: the Kidslope Pralongià II in Corvara. Slaloms, hillocks, jumps and animal silhouettes await skiers and snowboarders here.

For little ski novices: the Safety-Park. Here, on the Pralongià I piste, the experts of tomorrow can learn to ski quite easily and have a go at their very first slalom.

A little secret tip for the whole family: keep an eye out for particularly beautiful viewing points – a lot of them feature specially constructed ‘photo points’ for you to document your holiday memories!

2. Tobogganing in a Winter Wonderland

The fresh mountain wind in your hair as you zip down across meadows and through forests. The breathtaking panoramic views. Our little forest friends who, if you’re lucky enough, will cross your path as you race down the slope. Tobogganing in Alta Badia guarantees action and fun for all ages.

One of the most beautiful toboggan runs is surely the stretch that passes through Pralongià/Cherzplateau and Jägerweg en route to the Parkhotel Planac. The Punta Trieste ski shack is the starting point, leading you through snow-covered forests to the Parkhotel Planac, which is a little outside Corvara. An easy toboggan route for families with children!

3. Skiing for parents with children

Check out the skiing opportunities here in Alta Badia – in the world’s largest ski carousel, Dolomiti Superski, 12 family friendly ski areas, over 1,200km of pistes and 450 chair lifts await you. All that with 1 chip ski pass for the whole family!

While the parents take in the magnificent mountain views and race down the slopes, the children are expertly cared for in the ski kindergartens or during children’s skiing lessons. It’s more fun to learn to ski in the company of your peers!
