Hike to the St. Barbara Chapel

Drive by car to Wengen. Hike: From the village square of La Val (in front of the large church – 1,348 meters above sea-level,) you should take the road leading to Cians Weiler and then strike out on the trail through the meadows towards the St. Barbara Chapel. This is an example of Gothic architecture. On the outer wall, a crossing in an open landscape is depicted. Inside, the chapel is richly decorated. Continue from the chapel to the hamlet of Tolpei, from where one ascends towards the Villa Runch and Biei. The Villa Runch exhibits all of the typical architectural styles of the Ladin culture: the Gothic house, the Late-Romanic house, and the 19th Century building.
